In 2022, the City of Brampton finalized an as-of-right zoning by-law to Implement Additional Residential Units (Second Units and Garden Suites) on properties.

Size and Height
In Hamlet, Estate or Agricultural zones, the suite must not be taller than 7.5m in height and a maximum of 80 sq meter in size. In all other residential zones, the suite must not be taller than 4.5m and a maximum of 35 sq meter in size.
